Hope's Animal Kingdom Cat Rescue

Hope’s Animal Kingdom Cat Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue based in Louisburg, North Carolina, dedicated to giving the most fragile and vulnerable cats and kittens a fighting chance at life.

We focus on sick, orphaned, injured, abandoned, and extreme-risk kittens and cats—including many who need specialized care or would otherwise have limited options. Our goal is not only to save lives, but to provide each cat with the medical care, nutrition, socialization, and love they need to heal, grow, and thrive.

We believe that saving cats takes a community. Through the support of adopters, fosters, volunteers, donors, veterinary partners, local businesses, and fellow animal advocates, we are building a network of resources that helps vulnerable cats receive the care they need. We also believe in supporting our community through education and spay/neuter efforts to help reduce cat overpopulation and prevent suffering before it begins.

Every cat we rescue has a story. Every one deserves the opportunity to have a better ending.

You can be part of that story. Whether you foster, volunteer, donate, adopt, share our posts, or simply help spread the word, your support makes a direct difference in the lives of cats and kittens who need someone to give them a chance.

Follow Hope’s Animal Kingdom Cat Rescue on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube to see our latest rescue stories, updates, events, and available cats and kittens. We also introduce many of our newest arrivals on social media as they begin their journey toward adoption.

Want to meet some of our cats in person? You can find HAK adoption events and, when available, cats looking for homes at participating Pet Supermarket locations in Raleigh and Cary.

Together, we can give vulnerable cats and kittens the chance they deserve—and help them find the safe, loving homes they've been waiting for.

From One Beloved Rescue to a Mission of Saving the Most Vulnerable

Hope’s Animal Kingdom Cat Rescue was founded in 2021 by Laura Zurawski and her family following the loss of their beloved rescue dog, Hope. Her life and the love she brought to their family inspired a commitment to helping animals in need and became the foundation for what would grow into Hope’s Animal Kingdom.

While our work has always been rooted in helping animals, our focus has evolved to address one of the most overlooked and vulnerable populations in our community: cats and kittens, especially those who are orphaned, sick, injured, abandoned, or at extreme risk.

Today, HAK is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue serving Louisburg, Franklin County, and surrounding communities in North Carolina. We work to save lives, provide compassionate care, and give vulnerable kittens the opportunity to heal, grow, and find loving homes.

We are dedicated to giving the most fragile and vulnerable kittens a fighting chance at life.

We rescue and rehabilitate  kittens in need, with a special focus on those who are most vulnerable. Through compassionate care, proper nutrition, veterinary treatment, and a safe environment, we work to give each animal the opportunity to recover, grow, and become the best version of themselves.

Our ultimate goal is to place every adoptable cat and kitten in a safe, loving, and permanent home where they will be cherished for life.

For those who cannot be adopted, we remain committed to providing continued care and a safe environment.

We envision a compassionate community where every kitten—no matter how tiny, fragile, or at risk—has the opportunity to survive, thrive, and be cherished.

Through lifesaving rescue, responsible spay and neuter, community education, and collaboration with others who share our commitment to animal welfare, we strive toward a future where fewer kittens are born into suffering and fewer cats are left without a safe place to turn.

• Rescue and provide intensive care for orphaned, sick, injured, and at-risk kittens and cats.
• Provide comprehensive veterinary care, including proper nutrition, deworming, flea and tick prevention, vaccinations, testing, spay/neuter, and microchipping.
• Reduce cat and kitten overpopulation through spay and neuter advocacy, education, and community support.
• Help prevent shelter overcrowding by working with local shelters and providing lifesaving alternatives when possible.
• Place adoptable cats and kittens in safe, loving, and permanent homes.
• Educate the community about responsible cat care, early intervention, kitten development, and what to do when vulnerable kittens are found.
• Build a stronger network of resources by partnering with fosters, adopters, veterinary professionals, shelters, businesses, volunteers, and community members.

Every animal entering Hope’s Animal Kingdom receives individualized care based on their age, health, and needs.

As appropriate for their age and medical condition, cats and kittens receive:

• Veterinary examinations and medical treatment
• Age-appropriate vaccinations
• Deworming and parasite prevention
• Flea and tick treatment
• Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) testing
• Spay or neuter
• Microchipping
• Proper nutrition and specialized diets when needed
• Socialization and enrichment
• A safe, clean environment while they recover and prepare for adoption

For our youngest and most fragile kittens, care can mean bottle-feeding around the clock, monitoring weight and development, administering medications, providing supportive care, and responding quickly when their condition changes.

We do whatever we can to give these vulnerable babies the opportunity to grow into healthy, happy cats.

Hope’s Animal Kingdom Cat Rescue is funded entirely through donations and community support. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Every donation helps provide the essentials our cats and kittens need—from food and litter to veterinary care, medications, vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchipping, emergency treatment, and specialized care for our most medically fragile animals.

When you support Hope’s Animal Kingdom, you are helping give a vulnerable cat or kitten a chance at a completely different future.

From the moment they arrive until they are safely home, we are there for them.
